Sight-fishing for Bonefish and Permit on the Caribbean flats of Roatan and the Bay Islands.
Fly fishing in the clear Caribbean water of Roatan is an experience unlike any other. The combination of pristine white sand flats, crystal visibility, and wild fish that have never seen a hatchery makes the Bay Islands one of the premier sight-fishing destinations in the world. Our fly fishing charters range from a quick four-hour adventure for cruise ship visitors to full-day expeditions covering multiple flats on both sides of the island.
Designed for visitors to Roatan who have limited time ashore but don't want to miss the chance to experience real fly fishing in the Caribbean. We'll send our driver to meet you at the cruise terminal and have you on the water within 15 minutes. The four-hour format gets you on fish quickly, with the captain selecting the most productive flat of the day for your skill level.
This is also an ideal introduction for anglers new to saltwater fly fishing. Our guides are patient teachers who can get beginners tight to their first bonefish.
$300 per boatThe preferred trip for serious anglers in search of both Bonefish and Permit. Six hours gives the captain the flexibility to move between multiple flats, slowly polling across each one in search of large fish. You'll have plenty of opportunity to cast from the boat as well as step off and walk certain flats — some of Roatan's best fish are in areas the skiff can't access.
Permit require a precise presentation, the right fly pattern, and a guide who knows where and when to find them. Our captains have spent years learning Roatan's permit flats.
$400 per boatA full day on the water provides the broadest range of options. The typical full-day trip follows a proven pattern: stalk Permit and Bonefish on the flats through the cooler morning hours, then transition to blue water fishing for Wahoo, Dorado, or Tuna in the afternoon. Weather permitting, the captain will fish both sides of Roatan.
Full-day trips are especially popular with anglers who want to experience multiple fishing styles in a single outing — the contrast between sight-casting to permit on a flat and heavy trolling tackle for wahoo offshore is dramatic and memorable.

Sight fishing means exactly what it sounds like — you spot the fish, present the fly, and watch the take. Your guide will pole the skiff silently across the flat, scanning the water for the distinctive shapes and movements of bonefish and permit. When a fish is spotted, the guide positions the boat, calls the shot, and you make the cast. The window of opportunity can be seconds — but when it all comes together, there's nothing else like it in fishing.
Bonefish are lightning-fast and test your reel's drag. Permit, pound for pound, fight harder than almost any flats species. Landing both in a single session is something anglers travel from around the world to accomplish — the Bay Islands are one of the few places where it's a realistic goal.
