Deep Sea Fishing Charters

Wahoo, Dorado, Tuna, Marlin, and Billfish in waters that plunge to 2,000 feet — just minutes from the reef.

Sport fishermen holding large wahoo caught offshore near Roatan Honduras Bay Islands

Roatan owes its extraordinary offshore fishing to the same geological feature that makes it famous for diving — the reef wall. On one side of the barrier reef you have the shallow, protected lagoon and flats. On the other, the ocean bottom drops precipitously to 2,000 feet and beyond. That dramatic shelf edge creates the current upwellings, baitfish concentrations, and temperature breaks that attract pelagic species year-round.

Target Species

Wahoo

The fastest fish in the sea — capable of runs exceeding 60 mph. Present year-round, peaking November through February. Excellent table fare.

Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)

Among the most beautiful and best-eating fish in the ocean. Available virtually any month, schooling near debris and weed lines.

Blackfin Tuna

Resident in the deep water around all Bay Islands year-round. Powerful fighters, superb eating. Fly fishing for surface-feeding tuna is extraordinary.

Marlin & Billfish

August and September bring Marlin and Billfish through in numbers. Blue Marlin catches not uncommon. According to NOAA, Blue Marlin can exceed 1,000 lbs.

We Fish All the Bay Islands

Unlike operations that work only the waters immediately around Roatan's West End, Pescado Roatán fishes the full arc of the Bay Islands — Roatan, Utila, Guanaja, and Cayos Cochinos. Every island has its own productive offshore grounds and its own character.

Fish and Dive Combo Trips

For groups that love both fishing and diving, we arrange PADI-certified divemasters or instructors to accompany your offshore trip. We especially recommend Cayos Cochinos for a combined day — the protected status of these islands ensures exceptional visibility and marine biodiversity, while the surrounding waters produce consistent Wahoo and Tuna. Scuba tanks supplied; other gear not included.

Minimum 6, maximum 12 divers for fish-and-dive charters.
